Learn a little bit about activity-based working (ABW) by taking a look inside the New York headquarters of GLG designed by Clive Wilkinson Architects.
Our previous post, on the colorful office of game maker King, got us thinking about how workspaces are being laid today out in informal ways. There is hardly a better place to look than the output of Clive Wilkinson Architects, a firm that "strive[s] to connect people, shape relationships and empower organizations to produce new invigorating forms of human community." A recent project is the global headquarters of the Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG), which bills itself as "a membership of leading experts providing business decision-makers with insights to create better, more informed outcomes." Architect and client opted for ABW in the transformation of 65,000 square feet of space in a 1928 building near Grand Central Terminal, making it the largest application of the workspace philosophy in the United States. This six-minute film by Spirit of Space reveals how ABW works in the USA at GLG.
