BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group and Hyperloop One have unveiled their vision for a high-speed tube connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates through a short film highlighting the proposed 12-minute trip.
This time for the 124-kilometer trip is 1 hour 44 minutes quicker than driving – or as Josh Giegel, Hyperloop One's President of Engineering put it in a statement: "We don't sell cars, boats, trains, or planes. We sell time."
More than the tube itself, the short film explores the connections it makes with the city and how the pods are accessed and laid out. Bjarke Ingels said in statement: "We are heading for a future where our mental map of the city is completely reconfigured, as our habitual understanding of distance and proximity – time and space – is warped by this virgin form of travel."
If the film is prescient and things go according to plan, the UAE will have its "virgin form of travel" – Hyperloop – in place in four years.
