An Art Depot Behind Mirrors

Construction has wrapped on Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, the bowl-shaped building in Rotterdam designed by MVRDV. Although the building won't open to the public until fall 2021, a walkthrough animation reveals the depot's inner workings.
Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen is located in the Dutch city's Museumpark. Clad in mirrored glass and topped by a small forest of trees, the depot reflects the Het Nieuwe Instituut (Jo Coenen, 1993) and other neighbors. Seven thousand seven hundred residents of Rotterdam will be getting a sneak peek of the depot this weekend (free tickets were booked in just three hours), while everybody else will have to wait until next year.
Below is the animation followed by a half-dozen photos. World-Architects is planning a longer feature on Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen to be posted online in the near future. Stay tuned.
