As part of the 55th International Art Exhibition in Venice (1 June - 24 November, 2013), Chinese artist Ai Weiwei is exhibiting three large-scale works. Straight is an installation fabricated from the rebar of schools destroyed in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. Sacred is an overtly political work, with coffin-like boxes in Sant'Antonin church depicting scenes from his incarceration. Bang (pictured here) immerses visitors amongst hundreds of wooden stools balanced precariously in the central space of the German Pavilion.
