This summer, artist James Turrell is the subject of three major exhibitions—at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. The latter promises to be the most immersive, as the rotunda of Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpiece is transformed into Aten Reign, one of Turrell's signature Skyspaces. The site-specific installation, and accompanying eponymous exhibition, opens to the public on the summer solstice, appropriate given the importance of light in the artist's career.
