As part of the 2013 Milano Salone (April 9-14), Panasonic commissioned architect Akihisa Hirata to design an installation occupying an arcade at the University of Milan.
"Energetic Energies" is a 30-meter-long piece made of small solar cells that echo a hypothetical cityscape with rooftops covered in solar panels. This is the second straight year that Hirata and Panasonic worked together for the Salone; "Photosynthesis" occupied the university's courtyard a year ago.
