The Fundació Mies van der Rohe has announced the 356 nominated works in the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award 2017.
The list compiles the submissions of a group of independent experts, the Associations of Architects, and the Advisory Committee. This first step for the prestigious biennial award will be followed by the jury meeting to evaluate the nominated works, then determining a shortlist of 40 projects. From those, the jury will select five finalists which they will visit in April. The process will culminate with the award ceremony on 26 May 2017 at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona.
From the 356 nominated works, 28 of them are in France and Spain each. Other countries with more than a dozen nominated works include the UK (19), Germany (17), Italy (17), Denmark (16), Austria (15), the Netherlands (14), and thirteen each for Belgium, Norway, Portugal, and Turkey.
