Jach's house

 Back to Projects list
Location
4960 Malmedy, Belgium
Year
2022

This bioclimatic extension is a cube of 7 meters side implanted into a forest area.
The project is easily adaptable in the short, medium and long term.

Its current programme is defined as follows : a bedroom and a bathroom connected to the ground floor of the existing dwelling and a multipurpose space (office, playroom, etc) connected to the forest.

This configuration allows the future development of various uses :
- For example, an independent housing connected to the existing house by adapting the multipurpose space into a living room.
- Or an intergenerational cohousing by adapting the multipurpose space into a small studio.

The volume is either accessible by the existing house or independently by an outside access.

The extension is covered with Corten steel in elevations and a fully green roof, it thus interacts perfectly with the natural colours of the forest and the covering stone of the existing dwelling.

A glass walkway connects the two entities in a light and transparent way.

The nature around the extension is left quite wild to respect the undergrowth.
