The construction skeleton comprises four bowed steel frames, reinforced by an a-shaped support. The ground floor is cloaked with glass and draws the surroundings indoors. The upper floor is swathed in insulated metal cassettes of aluminum and curved glass bands. The front faces of the pipes are fully glazed, a generous airspace with a freestanding metal stairway common in airplane construction connects the ground floor with the upper floor—an office and meeting space with wet cell and kitchenette. The floors are finished with blue-gray linoleum.
An addition of an office wing to a trivial production hall in Oberpullendorf: In the jury’s opinion, the new building section, projecting extensively on the upper floor, represents not only a high-quality architectural language, an innovative way of dealing with materials and corresponding solutions for details, a spatial concept with an inner logic and almost dramatic views, but also, possibilities for how a building with a strong, independent concept can lend identity to a site in an amorphous industrial area.
