A visit to SOHO Aesthetics, a practice clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery in Stuttgart, becomes an experience. Not only for the treatment results, but also due to the unconventional room design. Instead of sterile clean treatment rooms, the 12:43 Architekten from Stuttgart work with an explosion of colour. The genius loci is Le Corbusier's colour system Polychromie Architecturale, from which a colourful concept of radiant yellow-green, bright turquoise to soft salmon colours in contrast to a soft grey develops. As if punched out, imaginary bodies leave their coloured imprints on the walls and, in combination with the white room edges, define a clear zoning.

Surrounding the central area, the respective treatment rooms visually open up into prestigious, luminous portals due to the play with colours. This creates flexible niches for different uses within the room. The patients are immersed in their own atmosphere within the treatment areas. Indirect lighting enhances this effect, as do the translucent, backlit curtain fabrics along the window fronts. Accents are set by the sanitary rooms, which are consistently kept in deep black.

The bold design concept lives from the radicalism of the implementation. All the details take a back seat in favour of the big picture. Plain colour floor coatings, paintable door leaves that are flush with the wall, the absence of skirting boards, even the light switches are precisely coordinated with the colour concept. The JUNG LS 990 design classic in the Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier colours vert olive vif, céruléen vif, l'ocre rouge moyen and gris clair 31 blends seamlessly into the design.

Well-designed health spaces can promote healing and relieve patients' anxiety. They are used as brands for positioning – with a lot of design creativity despite the high requirements for hygienic conditions.
