Key component of the tourist resort
The Seaside Resort Damp consists of a touristic part with multifarious offerings and a medical part with specialized units for acute and rehabilitation medicine. To ensure the further perpetuation of the touristic activities, a no longer repairable subtropical swimming complex had to be replaced by a new construction.
A theme swimming hall with the slogan “On the tracks of the explorers of the Baltic Sea” was conceptualized to establish an unique profiling and branding. The visual and haptic consistently thematization as “Explorer’s Swimming Hall” is regionally well-founded. The building comprises three pools, two slides, and a sauna village.
Thematic translation of the regional environment
The shape of the big pool is built in the style of the Baltic Sea. As an attraction, different regions resp. landscapes can be discovered playfully around it. There are modulated rocks as skerries in the North, relaxation loungers as the wide Danish sandbanks, a deceptively genuine windswept tree with the scent of pine needles, norther lights produced by high-tech lasers, and much more.
Three different cubes concerning science, theatre and explorers offer experiences which are not only playful, but also didactically demanding and educational. A special highlight for the guests is located within the spa area, where various saunas are integrated in originally recreated Vikings’ huts.
Spectacular design and latest equipment
A maximum connection to the outside could be achieved by the complete glazing of the facade towards the Baltic Sea. The real Sea can be seen unhindered by bathers from the “Baltic Sea”-pool as well as from the at the façade located outside pool made of stainless steel. “Finnish gutters” resp. “Wiesbaden gutters” enable high water levels in both cases.
The 98m long slide with various effects and the wide flume (from the rocks into the pool) are indispensable attractions of a modern leisure swimming hall. A highspeed turbo slide is already prepared to be installed later.
The swimming hall is equipped with the most modern building services technologies, especially concerning the water treatment. In addition, an energetic optimization was applied. All service systems, including electricity, ventilation, heating, sanitary, and bath water as well as the splash container are located directly under the pool level.
