This cemetery sits on top of a bluff, set slightly apart from nearby residential neighborhoods. Surrounded by Asian pear orchards and woods, the site evokes a sense of approaching the heavens. “I feel we can meet again in this place.” “All of a sudden, the memories arise with such vividness.” By interpreting the cemetery as a place for the living to meet with the departed, and reflecting these emotions in the landscape, the architects created a place where visitors can experience these “meetings” against a backdrop of dramatically unfolding scenery. It is a place full of memories, where visitors can overcome the division between this world and the next to meet their loved ones in joy once again.
