The new town hall in Leingarten is being developed as a compact, four-storey building with an interior atrium.
In contrast to the former town hall in the same place, the building is being moved to the south east with its façade aligned towards the tower of St Lawrence’s church. This creates a clearly defined, spacious square that forms a level space facing north and integrates the distinctive church tower into the geometry of the square.
The existing perimeter wall is exposed in its full splendour and substance and forms the western boundary of the new market place. By lowering the new square, a space with a continuous slight slope is formed which can be used for events such as markets and celebrations. It also has facilities for level access and natural lighting to the ground floor.
