The opening ceremony of the new reception and office building for the Sto SE & Co. KGaA in Stuehlingen took place in September 2016. The design of this zero-energy building, which was awarded the quality seal in platinum from the DGNB (German Society for Sustainable Building), a distinction received by only very few buildings in Germany, is from ORANGE BLU.
This project marks a further milestone in the masterplan of the Sto campus. The central elements of this masterplan, designed in 1993, are the two perpendicular axes. The 3-storey elliptical reception building in bright yellow, the companies corporate colours, is located at the centrally-located crossing point. Inside is a large foyer on the ground floor, several meeting rooms above and a roof-top terrace. Adjacent is a sixty-meter-long office complex with a capacity for 150 workstations and a datacentre.
Both buildings are in reinforced-concrete and employ several of the innovative Sto products such as the black photo-voltaic facade cladding and ceiling-panels that not only heat and cool but also ensure a high acoustic quality.
