Complete renovation and space redesign of a compact end of terrace house in the 1930s 'May Beetle' settlement in Munich, Germany. sophiegreen was comissioned by the clients (a family with two children) to add livable space and maximise light in this 1 bedroom property while staying in accordance with the ideals that the garden city was built in: a living environment characterized by usable open spaces - a private garden opposite the house accessed through an open living area.

Four large dormer windows were installed, a gable wall opened with glass double doors to the garden, access created from a new turned wooden staircase, as well as a compact floor plan and installation solutions. Planning from the inside to the outside, and space reconfiguration creates two additional bedrooms and a shower room on the upper floors: living through internal growth.
