A multilayered landscape beneath a large roof
This reinforced-concrete residence is located on the outskirts of a provincial city. The project is defined by its large, flat roof, which floats over a collection of distinctive smaller forms. Two-meter-wide eaves cast deep shadows that are iconic both for the resident and the neighborhood, encompassing a living area made up both inside and out of multilayered, contrasting materials.
The raw concrete exterior suggests a cold environment, but in fact, the interior is fully wrapped in external wall insulation installed behind fiber-reinforced concrete walls. In addition, the use of high-performance aluminum-clad wood windows ensures the house maintains a stable, efficient interior environment that is cool in summer and warm in winter. Without sacrificing aesthetic quality, the design succeeds in creating a home that is comfortable year round and has a low thermal load.
