The winning designs in the inaugural J. Irwin and Xenia S. Miller Prize Competition were announced in January, one month after the ten finalists publicly presented their projects. The temporary installations were unveiled in their architecturally notable spots on Saturday, the launch of Exhibit Columbus, which is billed as "an annual exploration of architecture, art, design, and community." The event brings even more attention to the architectural mecca that is Columbus, Indiana, the small city that lends its name and setting to Kogonada's feature film debut, which was released earlier this summer.

Here are the five Miller Prize winners, indicating the notable architectural works that serve as their sites, and with presenting sponsors in parentheses:

  • Another Circle by Aranda\Lasch at Mill Race Park (Upland Brewing Company)
  • Anything can happen in the woods by Plan B Architecture & Urbanism at Cummins Corporate Office Building (Cummins Inc.)
  • Conversation Plinth by IKD at Cleo Rogers Memorial Library (Elwood Staffing)
  • The Exchange by Oyler Wu Collaborative at Irwin Conference Center (Johnson Ventures)
  • Wiikiaami by studio:indigenous at First Christian Church (Haddad Foundation)
Exhibit Columbus runs until 26 November 2017. The temporary installations will come down then so be sure to make travel arrangements soon to see them in person.
