NANO was selected as the “2021 Small Business of the Year” at the 2nd annual Morial Awards ceremony hosted by The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on March 16, 2022.

The Morial Awards recognize local businesses that have demonstrated innovative growth and economic impact, as well as exceptional contributions to the sustainability and growth of local communities and small businesses across the state of Louisiana.

The Morial awards were established in celebration of former Mayor Ernest N. Morial’s achievements and his legacy as a civil rights activist and political pioneer. As the first Black mayor of New Orleans in 1977, a position he held for two terms through 1986, he championed the Convention Center’s construction and saw it as a way to promote economic development, especially for local and diverse small businesses.

“We feel incredibly honored to receive this recognition,” said NANO architect and co-founder Terri Hogan Dreyer. “It reminds us that the work we do for our clients can have a broader, positive impact on our community that continues long after our part in a project is completed.”

The ECC Awards were carefully selected by the European Cultural Centre curatorial team and cultural mediators upon feedback from visitors.

NANO Architecture | Interiors won the Architecture award for their exhibit, SUBMERGED EXPERIENCE. For highlighting through their project the immediate global action needed to cope with the climate crisis, and for their focus on two liminal cities such as Venice and New Orleans, two geographically distant areas which are linked by an exclusive relationship with water, and that remain resilient by embracing their unique identity both on a cultural and topographic level.

Every year, CityBusiness recognizes the top industry leaders in construction and real estate. Individuals that have created a positive impact in the areas of investment, jobs created and potential impact in the New Orleans area are selected.

NANO's Owner and Founding Partner, Ian Dreyer, AIA, NCARB, was one of the awardees for 2019.

NANO's project, Southwest Pass Station, received an honorable mention in 2018 by the United States Green Building Council for Excellence in Sustainability.
