This is the church project in seaside town near to Tokyo. The protestant church had been located on the other place over 50 years and has moved to this place. This new church has been created with hearts of the church members who have shared long history.
The ceramic cross is made from the soil ofthe old church built 50 years ago. The long history of the church is contained in the cross.
The six curved roofs cover the various heights between which natural light falls into the chapel. The roof of six pieces represents the six days god's work in the Bible. Worship that takes place in the church represents the seventh day.
The chapel is filled with pleasant atmosphere. The six curved roofs block off the direct sunlight uring the morning service throughout the year. Direct sunlight guradually enters the chapel after 12 p.m. and draw the line on the wall.
The afternoon sunshine create the lines from one to three while moving through the church.
The ribs on the walls controll the sound in the chapel so that the pastor's story can be heard clearly and the hymn echoes elegantly.
