The client's parents' house stands on a large plot of site.
We decided to plan an appropriately sized house in an appropriate location on the site.
I have planned and realized many architectural projects in the past, but most of them were in urban areas, so I have always believed that rational and lean planning directly leads to cost reduction and makes it easier to realize the client's requests because of site conditions, building codes, and the client's convenience.
We wanted some basis for realizing an appropriately sized space in an appropriate location.
The road to the south of this site is relatively busy, so we kept a reasonable distance from the road while keeping the garden to the south to ensure safety and daylight. The parents' house also has a garden on the south side, but it is small and complete within the large lot. We wanted to create some kind of non-direct relationship between the client's house and his parents' house. We thought that an open space for the annual local festival would be appropriate for the relationship between the two households, while connecting it to the garden of the parents' house.
The distance from the road, the approach to the parents' house, the garden and plaza connected to the parents' house, there are no absolute numbers, and this one-story house was born from the appropriate distance without excesses or deficiencies.
Recently, I have been thinking that this degree of flexibility is necessary to shape architecture.
