BIG – Bjarke Ingel Group's design of a waste-to-energy plant under construction in Copenhagen incorporates an art piece that puffs a steam ring each time the plant burns one ton of carbon dioxide.
So far small-scale prototypes of what's called the steam ring – developed with Berlin-based artists realities:united, Peter Madsen's Rumlaboratorium, and the Danish Technical University – have been created, but BIG and company have ventured to Kickstarter for funding of the last prototype. If funded – and most likely it will happen – the prototype will be one-third the size of the actual installation. Watch the video below to see how tests on the other prototypes worked and to learn more about the art piece.
