Project for a new housing unit in Stockholm on a site by a former industrial area close by the water. We proposed a building with a rough character and a complex and shifting expression created by the layering of structure and surface materials. The choice of corteen steel is made with reference to the industrial heritage of the site. In the interiors the steel structure is exposed. Protruding canopies from each flat towards the street creates a individual spade outside the facade that offers views towards the street and the water as the same time as the perforated screen offers privacy from the neighbours across the street. The position of the canopies shifts over the floors in a uniform pattern allowing sun and views for all flats as well as a pattern that unifies the volume and creates a monumental character.
