Beijing's OPEN Architecture and Chicago's Spirit of Space have teamed up to present the cinematic installation OPEN ReAction as part of the inaugural Chicago Architecture Biennial.
Per a statement from OPEN Architecture, the firm joined forces with the filmmakers at Spirit of Space "to use film as a medium to make a visual manifesto on contemporary architecture in China today." Further, "Cinematic representation captures the spirit of OPEN’s works, which are often designed from the inside out with a focus on the behavior of people and their interaction with buildings."
The trailer below gives a taste of the film whose "visual narrative is built around three key topics, as embodied by four of OPEN Architecture’s built projects: China and its urban dynamics, the process of architectural creation, and poetry through behavior."
OPEN ReAction is in the ground floor lobby of the Expo 72 building, across the street from the Biennial's main hub at the Chicago Cultural Center. Like the rest of the Biennial it will be on display 03 January 2016.
